Rain Garden 1 Complete!
The Pocasset Water Quality Coalition (PWQC) has completed the first of 3 rain gardens, RG1) around the head of Hen Cove. The concept is to filter storm water before it gets into the Cove. The head of Hen Cove has been closed to shellfishing for over 40 years. Caused by septic pollution and storm water. The project, 3 rain gardens, funded by the Southeastern New England Partnership, a division of the EPA, will be completed in October 2025.
A huge thank you to all the local businesses that have made significant contributions to the projects:
- Dan Barnett, Engineer, Cape Cod – Cape Coral Imagineering, for the engineering of the entire project
- Chris Mark and Sons Landscaping (Pocasset)
- Kiwi Signs (Bourne)
- Mahoney’s Garden Center (Falmouth)
- J & J Materials (Bourne)
- BourneTV for video taping the entire project. Watch for the final version of their creative version on this website and our Facebook page!
Members of the PWQC have provided the labor by volunteering to physically build RG1. Twenty five plus (25+) neighbors and friends spent the better part of 4 days creating, working hard, digging, raking and planting this wonderful project. THANK YOU!!!
